The ‘REWARD’

The “Reward” is one of the three component blocks of a habit, as defined in the book: Cue, Routine, Reward.

-Cue – is what triggers the habitual action (eg.: you get nervous)

-Routine – is the actual habit unfolding (eg.: you start biting your nails)

-Reward – is the satisfaction (sensation, feeling, result, etc., even if unconscious) that you get from going through that Routine, that actually made you repeat it in the first place, before becoming a habit (eg.: your tension drops a bit by unloading a small amount of energy through that gesture).
